New Vintages of Passopisciaro: One of Sicily's Finest and Most Undiscovered Gems

As you know, we love Sicily here at Some Good Wine. Yet as one of the largest regions in Italy and the world, we simply can't keep up.  I have heard of the producer Passopisciaro for years now and tried some of his wines in years past, but we never worked with the distributor that much. However, on the quest to discover more from this majestic island, we are doubling down and buying everything in site.

New Vintages of Matias Torres: Canary Islands Most Limited and Sought After Wines!

Totally not picking favorites by any stretch of the imagination, but out of all the wines from the Canary Islands that we carry, none seem to get people as excited as today's offer: Matias Torres. There are a few reasons apart from the obvious fact that the wines are amazing: 1. Matias Torres is the only winery in the Canary Islands solely operated by a women winemaker. 2. It is the only winery in the U.S. from the island of La Palma. 3. She is the only natural winemaker in the Canary Islands. And 4. Every vintage there are new cuvees and names showing how the bunch is totally up for interpretation year in and year out.

Back Vintage Saviennieres from Domaine Du Closel @ Decades Old Prices!

There are many reasons wine geeky people go a little crazy for Saviennieres. The most obvious, is that there really is nothing else like it. Sure, it's made of Chenin Blanc but it might as well be from another planet all together. There is a delicate yet pronounced bouquet on Saviennieres that always stands out in a crowd and always whimpers a fine yet pronounced exoticism. It tends to get lumped in with drier Riesling and Vouvray but that still doesn't do it justice. It is one of those wines that simply exists as it's own entity on this planet.

Insane Sale: Chablis for up to 40% Off!!!

Gotta be honest and I rarely do this: years ago when I tried this wine (think it was the 2012) I was not a fan and never thought I would see the light of day with it again. It was some of the most modern Chablis I had tried to date and was certain it would not last in the U.S. market. Enter 2011 and assistant winemaker Gregory Viennois who worked in Bordeaux and for Chapoutier. 2014 is the first vintage solely under him and BOOM! we are back!  This is real Chablis. Everything I know and love about one of my favorite regions in the world;.

Patrick Cappiello’s Monte Rio Cellars as Seen in The New York Times

I recently tried these on a whim and was quite impressed. They are natural wines without being too instagramy. Fresh while still being serious. New age yet terroir driven. Overall, they should be tried now!
