2023 Jean & Sebastien Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Montmains

Like Vaillons, the premier cru of Montmains encompasses a handful of individual vineyards, and Sébastien owns a small parcel in the lieu-dit of Montmains itself, in the northeast of the cru adjacent to the La Forest vineyard. This site’s more clayey soils produce a wine of admirable breadth and richness, its formidable minerality counterbalanced by a sense of unctuousness. Like to the Vaillons above, Montmains spends its first year in steel and its second in used barrels.
