2021 Claus Preisinger Blaufränkisch
The name 'Kalkstein' refers to the shell limestone soils found in the vineyards where this wine grows, with an average vine age of 30-years-old. Grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented in stainless tank followed by aging sur lie in used large wooden barrel for six months before being bottled with low amounts of sulfur.
This is textbook Blaufränkisch or what we believe this grape should aspire to. Super bright minerality with intimate layers of exotic plum, berries and herbs. Gorgeous nose with leather, lavender and tobacco. Floral on the palate with a real pick up of berry concentration that is wild and primordial with self containing firmness, grit and edge.
