Syrah from Fenaughty vineyard and Viognier from Sumu Kaw, both amazing volcanic sites in El Dorado County. Smoked meats and herbs, the color is fairly dark which makes the freshness and lightness of the wine quite surprising. There are few combinations in the wine world better than Syrah and Viognier. The two grapes love the same climate, soils, and possibly each other. Something magical and unexpected happens when you let the two loose in the fermenters. The sum is (almost) always greater than the parts.
