2016 Bodegas Ramirez de la Piscina Rioja Reserva

This traditionally styled Rioja has cedar, tobacco, and licorice aromas that waft up from the glass.  On the palate it is silky but taut, displaying dark raspberry flavors with subtle cocoa, maybe even coffee notes. The finish is moderately tannic but clean. Obviously, this pairs with roast pork but simply grilled beef works here, too.
