2012 Domaine Chante-Alouette Cornell Saint Emillion

On first sip, this wine tasted over the hill but as I have been burned so many times before thinking this exact thought: I gave it 10 minutes. Wham!  Boy, was that a smart move. The wine opened up immediately from decaying trees to mushrooms, cedar, tobacco and dried plum tickling the nostrils.  Fat and subtle richness on the palate with fresh figs, olives, raisins and and licorice.  There is the ever apparent sense that this wine is old on the nose, with changing scents every 10 seconds. It's a perfectly aged wine that is just begging to be drank.
