2022 Harmand Geoffroy Gevrey Chambertin Clos Prieur

por Rosenthal

Perhaps confusingly, the upper part of the Clos Prieur vineyard is classified as premier cru (and sits just underneath grand cru Mazis-Chambertin on the slope), and the lower part is classified as village-level. Harmand-Geoffroy owns a half-hectare’s worth of vines here split among three parcels—two in the village-level sector and one in the premier-cru sector—and the wine it produces is subtle and layered, with notable mineral finesse and polite tannins complementing a core of appealingly restrained fruit. 40% new oak.
