2017 Ruth Lewandowski MahlonZev Rovine
Arneis often plays second fiddle even in Piemonte, to say nothing of California... yet here it is. Naturally fermented, the wine was allowed to complete its native malo-lactic conversion. All fermentation and aging took place in 230 gallon egg-shaped polyethylene tanks. Ethereal and fresh, the Mahlon is light...but that isn't to say its lacking in character. Quite the opposite - it impresses with its beguiling spicy floral qualities and its overt minerality and texture on the palate. It finds itself equally at home on its own on the patio as it does alongside a variety of cuisine from oysters to fresh cheeses to creamy pastas.
